May 2012 Beauty Army Haul!

Beauty Army is a monthly subscription service that you pay $10/month for. Every month I get to pick six samples out of nine to receive in a cute little box pictured above.

My first sample I picked was this Mama Mio Zap Cellulite Shrink To Fit Hip&Thigh Cream. Whew. That’s a long name. Anyway, this is the description that gives this product:

Mama Mio Shrink To Fit Cream is a fast-drying serum cream, packed with radically effective ingredients proven in laboratory testing to reduce the appearance of cellulite, water retention and sponginess and restore elasticity to significantly improve the appearance of your skin. ‘Honey, I shrank my hips!’
Need a shrink? Feeling lumpy and bumpy? Little something extra following you around (and we don’t mean your gorgeous toddler!)? Alas, cellulite and excess curve tend to be the less adorable side effects of motherhood! Mama Mio Shrink To Fit is a sink-in-quick serum cream, packed with radically effective ingredients to help reduce the appearance of cellulite, restore elasticity, reduce water retention and sponginess and increase firmness. It is also rich in Adiposlim™, an amazing new ingredient proven in laboratory testing to help prevent new fat cells from forming.

My Opinion:

I don’t necessarily have cellulite, but I do have significant amounts of stretch marks from having my daughter 3.5 years ago and I figured why not try it?  I thought that I wouldn’t be able to get enough out of this product because its basically like a travel size, but as I have learned a little goes a long way! I have been applying this to my thighs and hips as directed and amazingly, it has reduced the appearance of my stretch marks a little bit, even though its not for that. It’s also made my skin incredibly soft and smells delicious! I don’t know that I would go out and pay $54 for the full size product, but I might splurge for the stretch mark version someday!

This sample is LaROCCA skincare Cellular Gold Hydrating Body Balm with C3G and Aronia Extract. The description on the LaROCCA website says:

With an enriching blend of Cupuaçu butter, Shea butter and olive oil, this ultra-rich nourishing balm soothes and melts beautifully into the skin adding intense moisture lasting all day.
Ingredients/Ingredients: Shea Butter, Avocado Butter, Olive Butter, Capuacu Butter, Candellila Wax, Safflower Oil, Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil, Grape Seed Extract, Colloidal Gold, Cranberry Extract, Green Tea Extract, Purple Corn Extract, Tangerine Oil Grapefruit Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbyl Palmitate
How To Use: Scoop out with your fingers and massage into your skin, as often as desired. Best after bath.
My Opinion:
Honestly, I don’t like this product at all. The full size is $35 and I wouldn’t spend that much money for this. It doesn’t smell good.. It smells like an orange wood cleaner and its really sticky when you apply it. I haven’t used much of it because the first time I tried it, it was so sticky and gross that I had to wash my hands like three times to even get it off my hands. Yuck. I am not sure what I am going to do with the rest of this sample yet.

This is a sample of Kellett Clarifying Acne Treatment 3 mL. The Kellett website has this description:

50 ml / 1.7 Fl Oz

> Clears up existing blemishes
> Prevents future breakouts

Helps to clear up existing acne pimples and prevent breakouts by penetrating pores and killing acne causing bacteria.

My Opinion:

I have to say that I LOVE this product. Seriously. It’s my favorite sample I got and also the smallest. A little bit goes a long way and I still have over half of the packet left over. It’s nice that it doesn’t dry out since the packaging is open. It costs $75 a bottle and I would honestly buy it. I have a feeling a bottle of it would last me a long time. It worked out perfectly. I got my Beauty Army box the same day that I had a breakout. I was so embarrassed and so I decided to try this out. I put it on one night before I went to bed and when I woke up, my face was significantly less red and my one breakout was almost completely gone. It was quite impressive.

This is a sample of Clear Prep FX Matte Foundation Primer and Anti-Acne Treatment Gel. This is what the Sephora website has as a description for this product:
What it is:A matte foundation primer and anti-acne treatment.

What it does:
Cover FX ClearPrep FX is an “anti-shine” primer that reduces lines and pores and is long-lasting and easy to blend. The dermatologist-tested, lightweight gel helps prevent and heal acne blemishes. The Dermaveil-Matte Technology has an Instant Mattifying Effect, while the smoothing veil blurs lines and pores while allowing skin to breathe. It is free of parabens, oils, and fragrances and is perfect for all skin types, especially those with oily tendency and are prone to breakouts.

What else you need to know:
All CoverFx products are gluten-free.

My Opinion:
I’m not really sure what to say about this product. I used it multiple times and I just didn’t see a different in my face at all. I’m still not really sure what it was supposed to do. I don’t use facial primers often, so I figured that it would be nice to try one. However, maybe they just aren’t for me.

You might be wondering where my sixth sample is. I gave it to my mom because she really likes using eye creams.  The Beauty Army website had this description for the product:

MAD Skincare
Eye Defense Shielding Serum

A light weight serum designed to protect, hydrate and nourish critical areas around the eyes. Infused with a blend of natural extracts including cranberry, apple and phellodendron which help to rid the skin of damaging toxins and help to combat environmental and emotional stress.
My Moms Opinion:
She has told me that it is nearly impossible to get the eye cream out of the container. It comes in a pump like container that she had to turn upside down for DAYS before she could get any to come out. I believe they could make the packaging a little bit better so people can get the full satisfaction of the product. She also said it goes on smooth and dries pretty quickly. I’m not sure that she would spend the $54 on this product as there might be better ones out there.
OVERALL, I think I got a pretty great Beauty Army sample selection. I just picked out my samples for my next box and can’t wait to show everyone what I got. I was able to pick a FULL SIZE sample this time of mascara. I’m pretty excited.
